Hi there! I'm so excited that you're considering booking a photoshoot with me. Whether it's for your newborn, family, or maternity, I want to make sure you have the best experience possible. To help you feel prepared and confident, I've put together some tips and advice. Let's dive in!

Choosing the Right Outfits

One of the first questions I get asked is, "What should we wear?" Here are some pointers:

Coordinate, Don’t Match: Try to pick outfits that complement each other without being identical. Think about colors that go well together but aren’t too matchy-matchy.

Neutral Tones Work Wonders: Whites, creams, and soft pastels are always a hit. They keep the focus on your beautiful family and not on bright or distracting colors.

Comfort is Key: Make sure everyone is comfortable in what they’re wearing. If your little one is fidgeting with a scratchy shirt or uncomfortable shoes, it can show in the photos.

Newborn Outfits: For newborns, simple onesies in light colors are perfect. I also bring a suitcase filled with baby outfits in natural and harmonious tones for you to choose from. Additionally, we can capture some lovely photos with just a diaper cover (I have a collection) or even sweet nude photos to showcase your little one's essence.

A Little Tip from My Experience: A harmonious look is often achieved when adults wear tops with sleeves. It’s not a common tip, but if you can opt for a shirt or dress with sleeves (from regular to long), it usually looks better in photos. And for those who love dresses and skirts, go for long ones. Since there are always photos of you sitting or lying down, a long dress will provide more comfort as short ones tend to ride up.

Timing is Everything

Choosing the right time for your photoshoot can make a huge difference:

Natural Light: I love using natural light in my sessions, so the time of day matters. Early morning or late afternoon (the golden hour) is perfect for that soft, beautiful light.

Consider Naps and Meals: For newborns and toddlers, try to schedule the session around their nap times and meals. A well-rested and well-fed child is a happy child!

Props and Personal Items

Props can add a personal touch to your photos:

Meaningful Props: Think about bringing items that have special meaning to your family. It could be a favorite book, a cherished toy, or a family heirloom.

Keep It Simple: While props are great, we don’t want them to overshadow the main subjects—you and your family!

Pre-Session Preparation

A little prep can go a long way:

For an In-Home Session: If we’re shooting at your home, a little tidying up can help. No need to go overboard; I know your little one keeps you busy. Just remove items you don't want in the photos. I usually shoot in the master bedroom, living room, and nursery, so focus on these areas.

Preparing Children: Talk to your kids about the photoshoot in a fun and positive way. Let them know it’s going to be a fun time for the family.

For an In-Home Session: If we’re shooting at your home, you may want to tidy up just a little bit. Please don’t go crazy; I know your little one keeps you busy, but just remove some things that you don’t want captured on camera. I usually shoot in the master bedroom, living room, and nursery, so you need to focus mostly on these areas.

Pack Smart: Bring along some snacks, toys, and extra clothes, just in case. A little bribery (think small treats) can also work wonders!

During the Session

Here’s how to make the most of our time together:

Stay Relaxed: I know it’s easier said than done, but try to relax and enjoy the moment. The more relaxed you are, the more natural and beautiful the photos will be.

Be Yourselves: I love capturing candid moments. Don’t worry about posing too much. Just interact with your family, laugh, play, and let those genuine moments shine.

Post-Session Tips

After the session, here’s what you can expect:

What to Expect: I’ll take care of editing your photos and will let you know when they’re ready. I aim to capture the essence of your family in each image.
